New Albums/Gig!

Swimmers!

Hope you're all surviving this never-ending winter that we're having (unless you live in a place where it's warm all year round, in which case: go to hell, you bastard.) The only upside to this crap weather is that my in-studio-hibernation continues and I'm cranking out the hits like it's my job (it is unfortunately not my job). I'm presently working on roughly 50 new songs, and when I say working on, I mean actually working on, and when I say roughly 50 new songs, I mean roughly 50 new songs. These are going to be divided into at least 4 new albums which I plan on releasing over the course of the year.

The first of these, entitled "RISES" will be out SOON! Like, May soon. I'll keep you posted as it nears release. It's the first album I've recorded entirely at my new home studio and it sounds freakin' awesome if I do say so myself. 10 barnburners. Not a second is wasted. You're gonna love it. In other news, we're playing at the Berkeley Bar (1401 Ocean Ave) in Asbury Park, NJ on Friday April 12th, with Daughter Vision. They're on at 9:30, Lifeguards on at 10:30. We'll be busting out some new hits for the very first time. It's gonna be great.

Hope to see you there. Safe swimming,

 Vincent & Lifeguard Nights

Back to the Future

Swimmers!

First off just wanted to say thanks again for your continued support, whether it be coming to shows, buying or streaming our music, or even just sending along words of encouragement! 2012 was a weird, wild ride personally and creatively but as I've always said, "When Life hands you lemons, say, 'hey Life, who the hell are you and why are you handing me all these lemons? And who named you "Life" anyway? What'd you have some goddamn hippie parents? You weirdo!'" So yeah, everything's back on track now and we are going to kick ass in 2013 whether you like it or not.

As of now we have no shows booked but I'm sure that will change and soon I'll be harassing you about coming to them. As it says over there to the left, "If you'd like to book us somewhere, just ask."  In the meantime, we're working hard on some new albums. Yes, plural. Much like The Boss after that whole mess with his manager which kept him out of the studio for a year (except without the mess, the manager, or The Boss) I've got a backlog of about 50 songs ready to bust out of the  gate. All wheat, no chaff. What the hell is chaff anyway? Sounds delicious. Anyway, the tentative title for this double or possibly triple LP is "RISES," for a number of reasons that I will keep secret until you ply me with Peach Schnapps.  I'm hoping for a Spring/early Summer release, and I'll be releasing some singles before then, as I finish them. Maybe even with rock-music-video-accompaniment. Who knows? I sure don't. I just work here.

Thanks again, and safe swimming,

Vincent & Lifeguard Nights

Thursday Night @ Porta in Asbury Park!

Swimmers!

This Thursday night we'll be rocking you once again as part of the Razor Blazer's 7" release party, which is going to be awesome!  Each of the 500 7" covers are unique and designed by a bunch of incredibly talented artists. I even made one myself (disclaimer; I am not an incredibly talented artist) and the wife made a few and so did a bunch of our pals. They'll be on display throughout the night, and ALL proceeds will be going to Kusi Kawsay, "an elementary school in the Peruvian Andes which offers children from economically challenged backgrounds an affirming and holistic education." So that right there is pretty awesome.

The party kicks off at 6 at Porta in Asbury Park, with DJ Foggy Notion spinning hits while you have yourself some drinks and peruse the fine art.

Then we will be rocking you, albeit with a slightly different line-up from the last couple shows.  Hometown hero Steve Honoshowsky will be playing the skins in what he's calling his "last performance as a drummer" which we all know is total BS.  Strap yourself in for a wild ride, we'll be breaking out some rare hits for the occasion.

Then Birthwater and Razor Blazers (obviously) are going to blow the roof of the joint, which will be unfortunate for the roof, but good for your soul.

You had best be there.

Lamp Post Thanks! & Some Pics

Swimmers!

Thanks to all ye who came out to the Lamp Post in Jersey City this past Saturday evening, we had a real fine time!  Thanks to Catbirds for opening up and Leaf Pile for closing it out. Good times all around.  Thanks to Courtney Yost for the pics!

Safe swimming, see you in 2013,

Vincent

Update: Sandy/Mercury Lounge X-Mas Show/New Album

Swimmers!

We hope you all battened down your hatches and fared well through the storm, and continue to fare well in the aftermath. The past few weeks have been a nightmare for everyone in our area and all over the region.  It's sad to see so many lives, homes and entire towns devastated by the storm. Overall we consider ourselves fairly lucky, but Lifeguard Nights HQ (aka Bruetown) flooded and there's pretty extensive damage throughout the first floor. Our percussionist PJ's house got hit even harder by the storm and lost basically everything. It sucks. Everything's falling apart, I'm over it, and at the moment there truly seems to be nothing left to live for....

...with one exception: The Annual Xmas Show which is taking place at the Mercury Lounge on Thursday December 20th.  We'll be opening up for East River Bandits and Wormburner, and as always the night will be capped off with an all-star rock-and-roll Christmas-themed jammy jam.  This show is quite literally the only thing stopping me from sucking on an exhaust pipe right now.  I really hope you can make it.

http://www.mercuryloungenyc.com/event/176688

We'll also be celebrating the release of a NEW South Jersey Seashore Lifeguard Convention Band ALBUM at this show.  It's titled "We're Having A Great Time" and as you may or may not know from reading this blog, we started recording it about two years ago at a house on LBI, which may or may not still be standing after Sandy.  If I had to guess, it's not in a good shape. And that is sad, because that house was awesome and that was the best vacation of my life.  Anyway I'll be putting the bandcamp link up soon when it's ready, and then you can hear it, and you will probably love it.

Safe swimming,

Vincent

Boo!

Swimmers!

Long time no nothing, how you been?  Sorry for the radio silence of late but I assure you things are cookin' on the stove and soon you will feast like kings upon the succulent sounds of lifeguard lullabyes.  In the meantime, Halloween is just around the corner so it's time once again to unleash our Halloween-themed masterpiece, "BOO" upon you.  Here it is:

Scare your children with it.  Or yourselves.  Whatever you wanna do.

Stay tuned for news about some exciting gigs coming up and new albums and other wild stuff.

Safe swimming,

Vincent

Mercury Lounge Set/Thanks/The Future

Swimmers!

Thanks to all ye who came out to the SJSLCB reunion at the Mercury Lounge last night, it sure was something!  We played all these old hits:

Whiny White Boy
Beach Party
Disaster Area
Paradise
Where Roses Lie
We
Dark Side of the Pool
Night Patrol
Mexico
Wave Goodbye

I'll post pics and maybe video if any exists.  The SJSLCB is going back on hiatus for a long, long time, although we do have a new album coming out in the fall entitled "We're Having a Great Time" which we actually started recording over two years ago at the house we rented in LBI.  It's a party.

Lifeguard Nights will be back up and running soon though with all new hits, new recordings, some new players, and gigs.  It's an exciting time for us all. Stay tuned, and safe swimming!
