Mercury Lounge Thanks/Setlist/The Future

Swimmers!

Thanks to all ye wonderful people who came out the Mercury Lounge this past Thursday, including my guards for rocking their asses off, and Vic Thrill for blowing my mind as always. It was truly a special evening for me.

This past Friday was my last day of work at my job of almost 14 years. I started there as an intern back in the year 2000, a couple months after The South Jersey Seashore Lifeguard Convention Band was born. For pretty much as long as I've been recording music, I've been at that job, a job which gave me a lot of freedom over the years to pursue my dream of making music on the side. However, since our move to New Jersey 3 1/2 years ago, I found myself with less and less time to do the very thing I came here to do: make music in my studio. The 4 hour per day commute was draining me in every way, and though I've managed to release 5 or 6 albums and some EPs and singles over the past three years, there is so much more that I haven't had time to finish up, and so much more that I would like to do, musically and otherwise.

One of those endeavors is the personalized songwriting business (in the same vein as our own Dr. Ew Brady and Kato Cunningham Veysman's old venture Songshop NY) that I have just started called I MAKE YOU MUSIC which I really hope you will check out. As long as I've been writing songs, I've been writing songs about friends and people I know, even going back to high school before I even played any instruments or knew how to sing. Over the years, everyone I've ever written a song for or about loves their song, because everyone loves a song that is unique to them and their life and whatever it is they want to celebrate or commemorate. I truly believe in this idea, and while I'm sure a lot of musicians or bands will think this is cheesy or "selling out" I do not give one hoot.  I think this business will bring a lot of joy to a lot of people (myself included), and give the world a lot more music which is always a good thing. So please, check out I MAKE YOU MUSIC and get in touch if you'd like me to whip you up your very own hit song.

I'm also looking to get into making music for TV/Film/Commercials/Interwebs/anything, so if you need a jingle for your business, or need a score for your movie or tv show or web video, or anything like that, hit me up at info@imakeyoumusic.com. I'm also available for live performances, either as Lifeguard Nights, Uncle Vin, whatever, wherever, playing originals or covers or whatever you want. I just want to make music and play music as much as possible.

Alright, enough of the sales-pitching/begging…..

These are exciting times. Slightly nerve-wracking times, yes, but I'm confident this is the right move for me and I have to take this chance. If I fail miserably and have to go back to a 9-5, so be it. In the meantime, there will be a shit ton of music coming your way soon. So stay tuned, take care, and safe swimming,
