"BEASTMASTER"
Swimmers,
Years in the making, "Beastmaster" is finally here. Featuring the mighty talents of Steve Honoshowsky, Boris Veysman, Tim Dempsey, Paulie Donofrio and Pat Calvert, with Ben Ross and Brian Powell participating in the last track's freakout jammy. Cover art by Steve Honoshowsky and design by Dave Biskup. I could talk about it for hours, but who would care? Just listen to it:

Newness
Swimmers!
Hope you all enjoyed your Summer! We are sad to see it go. We here at Lifeguard Nights headquarters basically had the best Summer ever, girlfriend. No shit. In case you missed it, I started a little bidness called I MAKE YOU MUSIC (where I'll write you a personalized hit freakin' song for a small price--check it out) and also released a new Ballroom album "Genital Hospital" featuring Steve Honoshowsky on the drums and Mike Biskup on the keys and guitar, and I just finished recording a bunch of music for a great documentary called "Offset" about an amazing photographer named Brian Nice, a traumatic brain injury survivor who goes on a road trip across the country taking photographs as a means of therapy. Check out his photos, they're awesome. Very excited about that project. I am also wrapping up the long-in-the-making Lifeguard Nights "Beastmaster" LP which is completely insane. Craziest Lifeguard Nights album yet, it may blow your mind lil bit. Couple tracks below:
I also started work on a solo album which is made up of songs I wrote on my recent road trip out west with lifeguard wife. You can check out a couple tracks I posted here at MY PERSONAL BANDCAMP PAGE. There's also a few more Lifeguard Nights albums in the works as well that I'm pretty excited about. The hits just keep on coming.
In other exciting news, this Saturday we're playing EXTRAVADANSA, an annual party in Stockholm NJ with a bunch of great bands including our sister band Hello, Boat returning to the stage for the first time in a long time. We're psyched to have Steve Dans on the kit for this one. Gonna be some oldies and some rarities and good times. If you wanna come, lemme know and I'll get you the details.
That's all for now. Bye bye, and safe swimming,
Vincent & Lifeguard Nights

Mercury Lounge Thanks/Setlist/The Future
Swimmers!
Thanks to all ye wonderful people who came out the Mercury Lounge this past Thursday, including my guards for rocking their asses off, and Vic Thrill for blowing my mind as always. It was truly a special evening for me.
This past Friday was my last day of work at my job of almost 14 years. I started there as an intern back in the year 2000, a couple months after The South Jersey Seashore Lifeguard Convention Band was born. For pretty much as long as I've been recording music, I've been at that job, a job which gave me a lot of freedom over the years to pursue my dream of making music on the side. However, since our move to New Jersey 3 1/2 years ago, I found myself with less and less time to do the very thing I came here to do: make music in my studio. The 4 hour per day commute was draining me in every way, and though I've managed to release 5 or 6 albums and some EPs and singles over the past three years, there is so much more that I haven't had time to finish up, and so much more that I would like to do, musically and otherwise.
One of those endeavors is the personalized songwriting business (in the same vein as our own Dr. Ew Brady and Kato Cunningham Veysman's old venture Songshop NY) that I have just started called I MAKE YOU MUSIC which I really hope you will check out. As long as I've been writing songs, I've been writing songs about friends and people I know, even going back to high school before I even played any instruments or knew how to sing. Over the years, everyone I've ever written a song for or about loves their song, because everyone loves a song that is unique to them and their life and whatever it is they want to celebrate or commemorate. I truly believe in this idea, and while I'm sure a lot of musicians or bands will think this is cheesy or "selling out" I do not give one hoot. I think this business will bring a lot of joy to a lot of people (myself included), and give the world a lot more music which is always a good thing. So please, check out I MAKE YOU MUSIC and get in touch if you'd like me to whip you up your very own hit song.
I'm also looking to get into making music for TV/Film/Commercials/Interwebs/anything, so if you need a jingle for your business, or need a score for your movie or tv show or web video, or anything like that, hit me up at info@imakeyoumusic.com. I'm also available for live performances, either as Lifeguard Nights, Uncle Vin, whatever, wherever, playing originals or covers or whatever you want. I just want to make music and play music as much as possible.
Alright, enough of the sales-pitching/begging…..
These are exciting times. Slightly nerve-wracking times, yes, but I'm confident this is the right move for me and I have to take this chance. If I fail miserably and have to go back to a 9-5, so be it. In the meantime, there will be a shit ton of music coming your way soon. So stay tuned, take care, and safe swimming,
Vincent & Lifeguard Nights

Do Rock
Swimmers,
Today is John Dorocki's birthday and we've been working on a bunch of songs for our oldest pal, teacher, and everything the man was that can't be put into words, but we've tried our best to put into music. I couldn't pick up a guitar for a long time after John passed. I couldn't even look at one. It hurt more than I can say. Then one day John came to me and told me stop being such a pussy and to pick up the guitar and get back to doing what we did best. As he said on his 21st birthday 14 years ago today, "Fuck the Beatles. We're better than the fucking Beatles." He immediately fell face down on his driveway after that declaration, but whatever, I believed him.
So I picked up the guitar a few months back and "Tribute" shot out of me like a baby crying upon arrival into a new world. I don't like this new world but I'll never forget the old one and these songs are my way of holding onto that, and to John. Through music we meet again and again and I have John himself to thank for that.
These songs are still quite rough and there are many more in the works that he has inspired. There would be a lot less music in the world without John Dorocki, and music is the best, so thank you John for everything, everything that means anything.
Happy birthday friend.

Happy New Year!
Swimmers,
We shot this video the other night on New Year's Eve at Boro and Kato's fun party. Twas a last minute idea we managed to pull it off thanks to my lovely and talented wife Eve who shot it, Kato who helped wrangle everybody, and everybody at the party who cooperated and did their best to remain as still as possible for 4+ minutes, which was certainly not easy (Nick was really ramming me into that wall pretty hard). I recorded the music yesterday with some help from Steve Honoshowsky on drums, Tim Dempsey on banjo, baritone guitar and lap steel, and Brad Clymer on trumpet. It's fun stuff I think. Hope you enjoy it. Happy New Year and let's hope 2014 is a lot cooler than 2013.
